Traveled Down the Road and Back Again

I establish myself playing "Thank You lot for Existence a Friend" on the guitar, discovered it was quite like shooting fish in a barrel to play, and decided that yeah – the theme from The Golden Girls is an apt song for our Corona Era. And and then:

Though written past (and even a popular hitting for) Andrew Gold in 1978, the abridged version – as performed by Cynthia Fee – is the rendition I recollect most of the states know best.

Though the recent passing of Betty White inspires me to perform the vocal, I'g struck past simply how many of the Plague Songs I've recorded are about friendship and support.

For instance, the theme to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood,…

Beak Withers' "Lean on Me,"…

Everything Just the Girl'southward "We Walk the Same Line,"…

and Jimmy Eat World'south "The Middle."

And that's simply sticking to some of the more than obvious ones. The theme of intendance resonates through many others – "Under Pressure level," "Handle with Care," "Look for the Silver Lining." Indeed, this Plague Songs project began in that very impulse. Back in the early on days of the pandemic, I was inspired by the videos of Italians singing to each other from their balconies. I started making these videos in that spirt, singing to you, because singing is life-affirming. And because yous don't have to be especially talented to do it! (If you've been following this series, y'all'll have certainly noticed that I am non a professional musician. My renditions are passable. I learn the song, and almost e'er post the first or 2nd consummate take. That'll practice!)

So, I hope yous're singing along with whatsoever songs sustain your spirits. I hope your friends are keeping you lot going – and vice-versa! Oh, and because I compulsively compile playlists, here are some songs almost friendship.

What? Yous're looking for more music thematically connected to the Corona Era? Well,… OK. The playlist below offers many tunes that (directly or tangentially) intersect with our current menses (2020-????) of vaccinatin', nose-swabbin', and social-distancin'. Just do turn to whatsoever music speaks to yous nearly clearly.
